Before you go on, here's a fun fact:

The north pole of a magnetic compass (the part that says "N") points to the magnetic pole on the Earth. Since this pole is near the geographic north pole, you might wonder why it is that north points to north when they should repel each other. But that magnetic pole of the Earth is NOT a magnetic north pole, it's actually a magnetic south pole!
